My brother Stephen is an internationally acclaimed mountaineer, writer and broadcaster and the first Briton to climb Everest without supplementary oxygen. I only became aware of Steve Day when I got my first copy of Outdoor Photography magazine in 2003 - in this edition was a tribute to the life and work of Steve, who had very recently died. You only have to look at his images to realise what a superb photographer Steve was but, what really struck me at the time, was what a remarkable a man he must have been - and reading about his life and work was a catalyst for me to pursue my own photography more seriously.
