Stephen Venables
My brother Stephen is an internationally acclaimed mountaineer, writer and broadcaster and the first Briton to climb Everest without supplementary oxygen. I can highly recommend all of his books and, if you get the chance to go and hear him speak, don't miss it!

Steve Day
I only became aware of Steve Day when I got my first copy of Outdoor Photography magazine in 2003 - in this edition was a tribute to the life and work of Steve, who had very recently died. You only have to look at his images to realise what a superb photographer Steve was but, what really struck me at the time, was what a remarkable a man he must have been - and reading about his life and work was a catalyst for me to pursue my own photography more seriously.
There are many photographers whose work I admire greatly - but I have included a link to Steve's site simply because of the chord it struck at a time when I was stagnating in my existing career. http://www.steveday.co.uk
