Areas of the North York Moors are incredibly remote and, at first sight, can seem a little bleak. However, walk a little distance, and there is always something photogenic to be found - an old stone way marker, a wonderfully gnarled Hawthorn tree - and, of cousre, in summer there are carpets of vibrant purple heather.
